Wispers Park Retirement Village held an entertaining and informal open day on April 26 with visitors invited to tour available apartments, meet residents and experience first-hand the facilities on offer at this excellent location – including a sumptuous three-course lunch.

Alongside a gardening demonstration was the opportunity to meet local artist Alison Orchard, who runs regular art classes for residents, complementing a variety of social activities for the community to enjoy.

The day was a welcome opportunity for all, whether their current properties are already on the market or if they’re just starting out on a research trail. Residents were happy to point out the finer details to visitors that are not always available in sales brochures – valuable advice for those who have not yet experienced such lifestyle opportunities.

Joan Holloway, resident and retired Air Traffic Controller, was happy to share her thoughts on her new home: “I wanted somewhere where things were going on and I wasn’t just sitting in a flat all day. Here, if you want company you can go and search someone out. The facilities are lovely. You can even have your cleaning done, if you want, or your laundry or ironing – all sorts of different things.”

While the luxury development of 58 stylish apartments is nestled in a countryside conservation area, the bustling heart of Haslemere is just two miles from the site and the Wispers Park minibus makes twice-weekly trips in to town. A deal has been struck with the local Waitrose to waiver the usual £5 delivery charge so residents can have their shopping delivered directly to their door following their excursion in to town.

Access to the site benefits excellent transport links, whether for residents travelling further afield or friends and relations coming to visit. Services from Haslemere’s mainline station can reach London Waterloo in as little as 49 minutes. The major road connection between London and Portsmouth on the south coast, the A3, is just a few miles to the west. Bus services connect the town to Guildford, Godalming, Farnham, Chichester, Bognor Regis and neighbouring villages.

Wispers Park meets the needs of the over 60s community looking to live an active and independent life with plenty of benefits including cosy, well-insulated and spacious apartments where energy efficient technology helps to drive down heating bills. With dedicated wardens on-site, plentiful company and maintenance taken care of there is every reason to investigate Wispers Park as part of your retirement plan.

Inevitably we’re all likely to need increased levels of care as the years advance. The Wispers Park site also includes the Wispers Park Care Home where short- or long-term stays can be arranged with consideration for individual requirements. Avoiding the unnecessary upheaval of moving away from your home offers added peace of mind.
